Smith High School earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 80 in student achievement, 81 in school progress and 74 in closing performance gaps. It scored 79 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, Jasper High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 94 in student achievement, 87 in school progress, 87 in closing performance gaps and 92 overall in post-secondary readiness.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Smith High School’s two out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. Jasper High School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, post-secondary and with 25% student progress.

Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Smith High School. They make up for 60.94% of student population, followed by African Americans (21.99%), Whites or Caucasians (8.56%), Asians (5.21%), Two or More Races (3.20%) and Native Americans (0.05%).

The student population at Jasper High School is also predominantly by Asians at 49.20%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (25.80%), Hispanics (10.94%), African Americans (9.42%), Two or More Races (4.15%) and Native Americans (0.40%).

Based on household incomes, Smith High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 66.55% compared to 19.01% at Jasper High School.
