iMessage is a chat and instant messaging service for iPhone, iPad and Mac devices.

You Don't Have a Good Connection

iMessage won't work properly if your phone doesn't have a steady, consistent data connection. You must ensure that you have 3G, 4G, or 5G connectivity available, or be connected to a good Wi-Fi signal.

Restart your iPhone or iPad. Check your network connection. To send a message as iMessage or MMS, you need a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. To send an SMS message, you need cellular network connection.

The interruption with other running programs may cause the iMessage to toggle off. Before using the iMessage app on your phone, check the settings and enable it to avoid unwanted issues during texting. Other reasons include network connectivity issues, operating system updates, or setting changes.
