Duck Donuts set to open in Florence (2)

FLORENCE— Another sweet treat spot is coming to Florence.

Duck Donuts will host a soft opening and grand opening at its Celebration Boulevard location in southwestern Florence. The doughnut shop is the latest in a monthslong string of openings in the area.

The North Carolina-born chain is known for fresh, customizable doughnuts. It'll be the first in Florence, joining seven others in South Carolina.

“We love our Florence community, the amazing people and there are so many opportunities to integrate ourselves,” Owner Deep Patel said. “We are thrilled to open the doors of Duck Donuts Florence and serve you warm, delicious and made-to-order donuts. Thank you for welcoming us with open arms, it means a lot.”

Adventurous doughnut lovers can mix and match their own creations. Choose from coatings such as maple icing or lemon icing, toppings such as bacon or streusel, and drizzles such as marshmallow and peanut butter.

Duck Donuts offers menu staples for those who aren’t sure what combination to try. Regular menu items include flavors such as chocolate covered strawberry, blueberry pancake and maple bacon.

If customers are looking for something to help curb summer heat, they can choose from a variety of ice cream doughnut sundaes and coffees such as lattes and cold brews.

Those looking for a savory bite can order a variety of sandwiches.

Each sandwich uses doughnuts in place of buns and are filled with breakfast staples such as bacon, sausage, egg and cheese.

Duck Donuts' grand opening is 7 a.m., June 8.

The first customer in line at each opening will receive one free dozen doughnuts each month for a year. The first 25 guests will receive two dozen doughnuts and a coffee bucket for future use, according to a press release.

A variety of other giveaways are planned.

Duck Donuts isn't the only new option in Florence.

The doughnut shop is joining a slew of new restaurants in the area which serve anything from macaroni bowls to margaritas.

Most recently, a new Dunkin' location opened off Pamplico Highway. The coffee and doughnut shop launched in late May.

Slim Chickens, a chicken restaurant known for sauces and sides, opened on Pamplico Highway in early April. It offers both drive-thru or in-store dining options.

El Dos Agaves, a sit-down Mexican restaurant, opened less than a mile from Slim Chickens in mid-April.

The Peach Cobbler Factory, another dessert hot spot that serves cobbler, pudding and cinnamon rolls, opened in November 2023.

Duck Donuts is located at 1360 Celebration Boulevard in Florence. It will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, according to its website. Hours will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
